Special Christmas delivery for Wish Centre residents

The Mall Blackburn partnered with the town’s Wish Centre to bring some Christmas magic to the parents and children staying there throughout the festive season.

The Wish Centre supports people who have suffered, or who are at risk of suffering domestic abuse, through the provision of support, advice and accommodation.

Management at The Mall wanted to give residents a special treat to mark the most wonderful time of the year so they bought each child a personal gift, with all parents receiving new pyjamas – all delivered in time for Christmas eve!

Laura Diffey, Marketing Manager at The Mall Blackburn, said: “We have worked with the fabulous team at The Wish Centre for many years and we are in awe of all the amazing work they do.

“After another difficult year we wanted to spread some joy in the local community and we hope that our donation brought a smile to the faces of the children and their parents.

“It is all too easy to get lost in preparing for the festive season and not give a second thought to those less fortunate, so we are really pleased that we could help out.”

Rebekah Wilson, Communications Officer & Volunteer Coordinator at The Wish Centre, went shopping with Laura to help to choose the perfect gifts.

She said: “We all need that little bit of extra magic this year, no one more so than our residents at The Wish Centre, so when we got a call from The Mall Blackburn we were over the moon.

“We chose a lovely gift for each child as well as a cosy pair of pyjamas for their parents, and I am confident that each and every one of them will be absolutely delighted.

“It is a difficult time for the families due to being away from loved ones but this has shown they are very much part of a community in Blackburn and are safe and secure here.”
