Audiences in Blackburn are being treated to an array of entertainment over the festive period.
The Demented Disco will curate winter:BBN a three week long mini pop up festival incorporating music, arts and fashion from 6-26 December 2019.
The idea was the brainchild of Blackburn based creative collective The Demented Disco. After putting on events in the area for the past 6 years and selling out venues across the North West this year with bookings such as Greg Wilson and Lenny Fontana, this Arts.
The festival kicked off with a Charity Fashion Show, put together by Emma Rimmer and will be showing lines from Debenhams and fashion label Gio-Goi and took place in the beautiful Holy Trinity Church, with money being raised for the fantastic and life changing charity, Nightsafe.
The art element of winter:BBN festival, headed up by Diane Bamford, features a selection of North West Artists along with an arts auction and raffle.
On Saturday 7 December, with a nod to the 30th anniversary of legendary rave, Live the Dream, Graeme Park and Allister Whitehead came to town for classic house event The House That Jack Built. Allister got the ball rolling with an impromptu set at the Blue’s Bar after Rovers took on Derby County, before joining Graeme Park for a stellar lineup again at Holy Trinity.
Chris Eckersall, Demented Disco founder, explained: “We have been working towards this project since August after hosting two sell out shows at the uber-cool Golden Lion in Todmorden. It seemed the only choice to come back to Blackburn this winter in the lead up to Christmas.
“The overall project encompasses lots of different elements of art, music and fashion and we hope there is something that appeals to everyone.”
Organisers are constantly adding to the line up – which can be viewed at winterbbn.com
Blackburn BID Manager, Catherine Price, said: “This is the sort of forward thinking, multi-faceted event that is what will help reinvent Blackburn’s nightlife, with a focus on high quality international performers, side-by-side with local talent.”
