Two chances to see BBC Sewing Bee Patrick Grant!

Organisers of the Blackburn Heritage Festival at Blackburn Library are reminding people that there are two opportunities to meet the designer, Patrick Grant who is the VIP guest at the event this Saturday.

The celebrity judge of the BBC Great British Sewing Bee will be talking about his career in design at the Hornby Lecture theatre, Blackburn Library from 11.30am – 12.30pm before officially opening a museum of sewing machines at Hobkirk on Darwen Street at 1pm where signed books can be purchased.

Organiser of the Blackburn Heritage Festival and Manager of Blackburn’s Business Improvement District, Harriet Roberts said: “Social media is buzzing with fans sharing their excitement about seeing Patrick and there could be big crowds. To avoid being disappointed the team recommend people arrive early to get a seat at the library event before visiting the sewing machine collection.”

Other free festival activities at Blackburn Library include a presentation about the life and collections of Blackburn Industrialist, RE Hart by Cynthia Johnston, the curator of the new museum exhibition, ‘Cotton to Gold’ at 2pm and a screening of black and white Mitchell and Kenyon Footage from 3pm.

Visitors will also be able to celebrate Blackburn’s famous cotton town history with a ‘sew and tell’ demonstration and interactive workshops at The Mall Blackburn on Saturday and Sunday 10am – 4pm.
