Experienced Barber, Alan Gosling, has worked in the industry for 10 years before fulfilling his dream and opening a stylish barber shop and shaving parlour on King William Street in June 2014.
As the owner of AG Barbers and Shaving Parlour, Alan is bringing traditional barbering and shaving back to his hometown at affordable prices in a relaxed, fresh environment. The parlour offers a one-on-one experience with a range of services from beard trims to traditional hot towel shaves.
Alan explains, “Times have changed. Barbering is coming back and it’s coming back fast. The stigma that once tainted male grooming is now fading and the industry is growing. Whether it’s a clipper cut or a re-style, bring a picture and I will create that style for you.”
Blackburn’s regeneration is what brought him back to the town, Alan said: “There are a few empty properties perfect for a new business close to the town centre and I wanted to support the local community and bring business to the area.”
Trained by an expert barber with over 55 years’ experience cutting hair, Alan learnt his techniques from the finest in his profession. The Level Three barber nurtured his passion and gradually worked his way to the top of the industry. He says, “I was passionate about becoming a barber in school but the industry was difficult to break into but I went from cutting hair for free in the area that I lived in to working in high end shops in big cities.”
On Mondays Alan is offering a discounted service to over 65’s. Instead of paying the usual £6.50 a haircut, it will only cost £5. The shaving parlour offers a walk-in service from Monday – Saturday with a late night on Thursday. All prices are fixed and aim to be affordablefor all.
