Thousands turn out for Blackburn’s first Comic Con

Thousands of visitors enjoyed a themed day in Blackburn with their favourite fantasy and comic characters during the town’s first convention last weekend.

Fans of comic books, film, gaming and all things pop culture packed into King George’s Hall on Saturday, 26th November in a bid to meet and greet stars of the big screen.

Star guests including Dave Prowse, who played the iconic film villain Darth Vader in the original Stars Wars films and Tim Proctor from the Walking Dead were amongst those who attended.

One of the event organisers, which was supported by Blackburn’s Business Improvement District, Neil Livesey said: “We couldn’t have pulled this event off without the support of the Blackburn BID. He added: “I would like to thank the local community for turning up and I hope they all enjoyed it. We are definitely keen to return again next year.”

Other stars who appeared at the event include Peter Davison (Doctor Who), Ian McElhinney, Neil Fingleton and Leigh Gill from Game of Thrones.
