The Be Surprised Awards

Help us to celebrate excellence amongst the area’s business community and the unexpected treasures in our town centre!

The Be Surprised Awards scheme, created by the Blackburn BID is backed by the Business in Community Healthy High Streets team and promotes and celebrates the achievements of local businesses and great commitment to our vision to making the town centre a great place to work and visit.

Blackburn’s Healthy High Streets team, which includes representatives from Boots, Santander, Marks and Spencer and Greggs nominate people or places that they feel deserve a spotlight shining on them. Submissions for nominations are on a rolling basis and approved by the BID executive board.

Event organiser and artist, Kerris Casey-St.Pierre from The Bureau, was pleased and honoured to be presented with an award for her involvement in the organisation of Blackburn’s annual lantern parade in December 2015.  Awards have also been presented to staff at Blackburn’s first town centre hotel, the Premier Inn for excellent customer service.  Volunteers, Karen Brooke and Lowri Cope received awards for their role in organizing the Blackburn Cathedral Flower Festival in June 2016 which has been nominated for a Lancashire Tourism Award.
