We have a few updates for you in readiness for Step 2 on Monday and the reopening of non-essential retail, close contact services and fitness & gym facilities.
The Fire Service has published a helpful poster and guide to checking if your business if safe from fire before reopening. The poster is attached.
Rapid Community Testing
The rapid community testing facility at King George’s Hall on Northgate will be open 07:30 to 15:00 Mon to Fri. The times are under review and I have shared your feedback on community and workplace testing services which is proving really helpful to this. You and your staff are encouraged to make use of this facility on a regular basis during the working week. You will start to see lots of signage around the town centre encouraging people to #testandgo, which the BID is supporting, and I will be going for testing on Monday before spending the day in the town centre.
Plans & Prep for reopening
Blackburn BID, Blackburn with Darwen Council and The Mall have been working hard to prepare for reopening next week, including:
- Deep cleaning the town centre including outdoor areas, street furniture, shopping centre, market
- Installing new street furniture
- Installing Welcome Back and safety signage around the town centre
- Replacing floor safety markers for queues
- Installing new artwork in the bike sheds area inspired by the impact of the pandemic on the community
- Refreshing the planters and green spaces (council gardening team)
Next week (and for the next few weeks) to support businesses with operating safely, and support, welcome and reassure visitors, there will be a team of Safe & Secure Ambassadors operating across the town centre. This is a partnership of the BID, BwD Council and The Mall.
I’m also pleased to say we have roaming performers each day, Monday to Saturday, including Cheerleaders provided by Pop Up Entertainment, wearing the Experience Blackburn uniform and cheering safety chants and welcome back messages.
If there’s anything you need prior to re-opening or next week, please contact email@example.com and I’ll do my best to help.
