Following the announcement that pubs, bars, cafes and restaurants can re-open from 4 July providing they are ‘Covid-safe’, and the release of government guidance earlier today, Blackburn BID is supporting Blackburn with Darwen Council with planning for the safe re-opening of those businesses in Blackburn town centre.
On the basis the government guidance encourages the use of outdoor spaces for service of food and drink where possible, and the capacity of premises will be reduced to help maintain social distancing, the Council’s Licensing and Highways teams have been identifying potential additional outdoor spaces for the service of food and drink, any infrastructure that might be needed, and are developing a simple, fair process for their safe use and management.
In light of the confirmation of a re-opening date yesterday, the issuing of safety guidance, and the ability to have 1m+ social distancing measures in place where 2m is not possible, if you would like to use or extend your use of outdoor space in the town centre, please can you contact firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible with the following information (even if you have already advised her of the space you would like as your needs may have changed):
- Your business:
- What (additional or new) outdoor space you’d like to use – location and approx. size:
- How many tables and chairs you would like in the space (please indicate the size of the tables):
- What days of the week and times you would like to use the space (e.g. Weds to Sunday, 12pm to 10pm):
It’s worth pointing out that your request will need to be considered alongside other business requests for outdoor space – it’s possible that more than one business may request use of the same space – and any potential impact on surrounding businesses.
It is expected that any outdoor space you are permitted to use will be your responsibility to manage in terms of safety, licensing conditions (if applicable) and cleanliness.
