Blackburn Rovers Community Trust (BRCT) are hosting the ‘Sleep Out for Blackburn 2020’ event – and they’re looking for people to take part.
The event will run from 8pm-6am and will involve participants sleeping outside on Friday 27thMarch at Ewood Park with only the bare necessities. The event will raise awareness of homelessness and deprivation in the area and will raise money for BRCT and Blackburn Foodbank to support.
Jess Clegg of BRCT said: “Last time we did a Sleep Out in November 2018 we raised just over £25,000 to support homelessness. This year, we have chosen Blackburn Foodbank to support as their demand has increased to 11,214 people requiring their help in 2019, with 4,800 of those being children.”
The closing dates for sign ups is 20th March 2020 and it’s free to sign up and participants are asked to raise a minimum sponsorship of £100. Businesses are also being invited to enter a team of up to five in exchange for £500 in sponsorship.
Jess added: “We are looking to engage local organisations and businesses in this event, in addition to fans, schools and anyone else wishing to help tackle these issues. Last time we had 15 local businesses taking part.”
