Christmas cheer is always top of the festive agenda at The Mall Blackburn, so when Covid-19 stopped its magical grotto going ahead management got in touch with the big man himself to see if he could help them out.
The magic of Christmas is just what everyone needs so Santa agreed to record some personalised messages for some very important people.
Of course, top of the list was the outstanding local hospital staff, who have been on the front line in the fight against the virus since March.
Santa shared the sentiments of people across the world in thanking them for their continued service.
Next up came the staff at The Mall and its retailers, who have all faced their own challenges this year.
Last, but certainly not least, Santa turned his attention to the children of the county. A special message is set to be played to all at 4.30pm on Christmas Eve on The Mall’s Facebook page.
Personalised messages were also created for some amazing children, from those that have gone above and beyond to raise funds for local charities to those who have lost precious loved ones during the pandemic.
Loraine Jones, General Manager at The Mall Blackburn, said: “Christmas is not the same this year and we took the decision not to host Santa in his magical grotto to ensure the safety of our shoppers and staff as well as Santa and his elves.
“That said, we are very good friends with him and he was more than happy to record some very special messages for people that have really earned their spot on the nice list.
“We hope they will bring smiles to those that needed an extra boost this festive season.
“I would like to say my own personal thank you to everyone that has supported The Mall this year, whether you have shopped here, you work here or you have helped the fight against this pandemic in any way.
“Brighter days are on the horizon and we look forward to those times.”
