Survey responses needed to support the re-opening of businesses

Please find below details of 2 surveys from Blackburn with Darwen Council, Lancashire County Council and Blackpool Council who are working together to deliver projects to support the re-opening of businesses across the area with funding from the Local Safer Travel Restart programme and the Re-opening High Streets Safely fund.

Dear business owner/manager

We understand you may have concerns about how your business is going recover and move forward following the unprecedented changed forced upon us over the past few weeks and months. We want to support you, your employees and your customers to ensure your business re-opens safely. Certain measures may need to be put in place to encourage and facilitate people to re-engage with their local economies. We need you to complete a quick survey which will provide us with valuable information to help inform how to do this.

If your business has more than one site, please can you ensure that the survey is completed for each individual site, as the planning of measures could be adversely effected by inaccurate data (eg. 100 staff at one site, rather than spread across three sites). I would like to take this opportunity to apologise for any cross posting, and assure you that you only need to complete the survey once for each business site – we are trying to use as many ways as possible to disseminate the survey to as many businesses as possible across Lancashire, so please feel free to forward this email on to any local contacts.

Time is of the essence and we do request an immediate response. The survey will remain open to try and capture as much information as possible and allow engagement with different businesses as the gradual re-opening of different sectors of the economy progresses.

As part of this work, we are also looking at the travel patterns of commuters that will accompany the re-opening of many businesses across Lancashire, especially in the light of the government advice to avoid public transport where possible. We want to try and identify how the journeys displaced from public transport will be replaced and if people are going to doing more working from home. Please distribute this to all your employees as their responses will be very important in helping us manage the local transport network.

As I am sure you are aware, there has been a massive increase in people cycling not only for daily exercise but for commuting too. Many employers in Lancashire offer their employees a cycle to work scheme. This is a scheme where you can get a bike and related equipment and the deductions are taken out of the salary before tax and national insurance is deducted. This is called salary sacrifice and, as the deduction is taken before tax and national insurance, means even more savings for both the employee and the employer. If you do not already have a cycle scheme available for your employees and want to know more, why not have a look? Here are three providers of the scheme.
