A new digital reading offer is available to help children beat those lockdown blues, have fun, and keep their reading skills sharp at the same time while many schools and libraries remain closed.
From Friday 5th June and throughout the rest of the summer, sign up for the Silly Squad Summer Reading Challenge 2020 at www.sillysquad.org.uk.
The theme for the Summer Reading Challenge 2020 is ‘Silly Squad’. The aim is to encourage children to read whatever makes them happy, get silly and have fun!
You can choose which books you want to read and how many, and collect online awards as you progress. There are lots of other games and activities that you can download and enjoy on the site while you’re there too.
Staff are working hard behind the scenes to ensure that the libraries are safe to welcome customers back when lockdown restrictions ease, but in the meantime eBooks and eAudio can be downloaded via the BorrowBox app or from: http://bwdlibraries.spydus.co.uk.
A recent survey commissioned by The Reading Agency showed that 45% of young people are reading more during lockdown.
