Carole Pugh has been crowned the People’s Choice winner in this year’s Paint The Town competition – voted for by the public.
Carole was also awarded third place overall by the judges in the single-day art competition run by The Bureau Blackburn and supported by Blackburn BID.
Carole, a retired Textile Designer from Feniscowles, has been painting daily for nine years, and her entry was inspired by taking a different route through Blackburn town centre.
She said: “I was on the way to M&S and went down through Town Hall Street past the statue of William Henry Hornby. It was quite rainy and the statue looked fantastic. The rear of it seemed to be towering over the buildings, silhouetted against the sky. I couldn’t wait to paint it.”
Carole is no stranger to painting competitions. Last year she was crowned the overall winner in Paint The Town At Home, and fourth in 2019.
She said: “I enter lots of competition and competitions like this are great.
“I was so pleased to win last year and it was a bit of excitement during lockdown. I’m buzzing when I’m painting.”
