Art and design student Aelwyn Whitehead-St Pierre was named winner of the under 17s category of this year’s Paint The Town.
The Blackburn College student was inspired by a project she had done as a piece of coursework.
On the single-day art competition Aelwyn painted a mandala, created by repeating the image of the tower in Blakey Moor near to the statue of William Gladstone.
She said: “Before entering Paint The Town I already had the idea of the mandala from my course. I knew I could do the same sort of thing and took a photo of the tower.”
Judges were clearly impressed by the talented artists work, awarding her first place. She was presented with a certificate at the Paint The Town Prize Evening.
