The Power of Colour by Emma Colbert

‘The Power of Colour’

Brightly coloured mural artwork on 3 large cast iron planters, part of the Creative Spaces campaign.

The aim behind the project is to inject a pop of colour into unexpected public spaces through creating colourful mural installations.

Emma’s artwork even extends to the colourful bollards!

Artist details:

Emma Colbert is from You Good Studio and is a multi-disciplinary queer artist and designer based in Lancashire with a studio at Prism Contemporary in Blackburn.

She studied Fine Art at Blackburn University graduating in 2019 and now works as a Freelance artist and as a Social Media and Marketing Coordinator for The National Festival of Making and In-Situ.

Her studio practice ‘You Good Studio’ explores the use of colour and composition to create vibrant abstract work primarily through printmaking, painting and mural painting.

Emma is really interested in creating immersive experiences through large scale pieces and believes colour to be a powerful tool of expression. The aim of her work is to spread joy, and start positive conversations around mental health and wellbeing.

Emma works a lot with print, collage, paint and digital graphics, working with abstract patterns, blocks of colour and often typography to create a style which is present throughout my practice. To see examples of her work please visit or @yougoodstudio on Instagram.
