Blackburn entertainers set sail for new adventures

A Blackburn entertainment company have the world in their sights after securing a three-year deal with a renowned cruise line.

Pop Up Entertainment, based on Tontine Street in Blackburn town centre, will be sending a cast of eight singers and dancers to travel the world with Fred Olsen Cruises after dazzling the panel with their high-quality routines. Destinations will include Norway, Spain and the Caribbean and their show team will be on board for eight months at a time.

Pop Up Entertainment’s Managing Director, Amy Toole, said: “We are unique as a company because we have all come from a cruise ship background. Every member of staff is a performer.

“The company was set up five years ago, but when we relocated to Blackburn town centre two years ago we had a cruise ship deal in our five-year plan – but we have achieved it already.

“It’s really exciting. We pitched for the tender without any expectations in July and we found out the fantastic news just before Christmas. Now it’s all systems go ahead of the start of the contract in June.”

Amy and the team hope it will be plain sailing from here.

She said: “We have high standards and deliver entertainment with our own stamp on it.

“We hope the Fred Olsen contract will be the start of something big for the company. We just needed that one company to believe in us so we can prove what we can deliver.

“Our vision is to be the company that performers want to work for, and that clients want to work with – on land and sea. We want to take over the world.”

The Pop Up Entertainment team have delivered the hugely popular Greatest Christmas Parades and the spectacular finale show for the Blackburn Comes Alive! Christmas Lights Switch On event in 2019.

Auditions are scheduled for February at Pop Up HQ in Blackburn town centre and at Pineapple Studios in London. For more details please email casting@popupentertainment.co.uk
