PM asks Parliament to confirm continuation of Plan B restrictions

The Prime Minister is speaking at a Press Conference this evening where he has confirmed that tomorrow he will be asking Parliament to confirm continuation with Plan B restrictions currently in place.

He did not announce any further restrictions but urged continued caution to avoid further restrictions or needing to go into a lockdown, and said that the next few weeks are going to be challenging.  He confirmed this means working from home where possible; wearing face coverings where required; certain venues and events being required by law to check that all visitors aged 18 years or over are fully vaccinated, have proof of a negative test in the last 48 hours, or have an exemption; testing and isolating where required; and getting vaccinated / boosted.

Boris Johnson said that from next week, daily lateral flow testing will be made available for 100,000 workers identified as critical in certain sectors such as food processing.  He also said that the NHS would be on a ‘war footing’.
