Welcome to Paint the Town 2019… An exciting painting event based in Blackburn town centre, now in its fourth year!
Paint the Town is a challenge to artists of all ages and abilities – beginners, amateurs and professionals – to create a painting, drawing or other artwork in just ONE day within Blackburn town centre.
Participating artists will need to register in advance and then attend The Bureau Centre for the Arts Event Hub on Saturday 26th October from 8am in order to have their blank canvas certified with a stamp.
Photographers are welcome, but separate rules apply.
Artists will then be able to go out into the surrounding town centre area to their chosen location to produce a piece of work. Any size or medium is acceptable, but remember you have to complete it in a day!
A separate prize category is in place for artwork created within and of the Blakey Moor Townscape Heritage area.
All work will need to be returned to The Bureau Event Hub by 6pm. It will then be judged and the winners announced on 7th November.
There are fantastic prizes to be won, and all submitted work will be exhibited at The Bureau Centre for the Arts following the event.
Visitors will be able to pick up a Visitor Guide on the day and follow an Artists Trail to see artists at work, and take in the many amazing works of street art around the town centre, thanks to the Open Walls project.
