A charity supporting homeless and vulnerable people aged 16-24 has been chosen as The Mall Blackburn’s official Charity of the Year 2015.
Nightsafe has helped over 12,000 young adults in Blackburn and Darwen, and this year celebrates its 25th anniversary.
Located in Blackburn’s Cathedral Quarter, Nightsafe will be able to put its exciting fundraising ideas into practice at The Mall as part of its celebrated community programme, Mall Cares, supported by shoppers, retailers and the shopping centre’s management team.
Nightsafe Volunteer Coordinator, Jay Ratcliffe said: “We are thrilled to have been chosen as The Mall’s Charity of the Year.
“We depend heavily on charitable donations to continue our work in the area, so to have the backing of such an established company like The Mall is phenomenal.
“As it is our 25th anniversary, we’re aiming to make 2015 the best yet and can’t wait to get started!”
Loraine Jones, General Manager at The Mall Blackburn, said: “Nightsafe’s fundraising ideas were fantastic. We were particularly impressed with their creativity and passion, which really shone through.
“This charity is extremely enthusiastic about what it does and as a shopping centre at the heart of the community we think this is a brilliant cause. We’re hoping to raise more awareness of the charity so it can generate the funds it deserves.”
