The Mall Blackburn has unveiled a colourful rooftop display and a stunning memorial wall to celebrate the lives of loved ones lost throughout the course of the pandemic.
The building’s sun-filled atrium has been thoughtfully dressed with rainbow bunting, and a heart-filled memorial wall has been installed in Victoria Court, where visitors are invited to collect an adhesive-backed heart from the Ask Me Point, write a message and add it to the wall.
General Manager Loraine Jones said “Rainbows have become a real sign of solidarity and have been a symbol of hope and support since the first COVID-19 lockdown. We felt that using rainbows in the atrium would be a fitting mark of remembrance to those no longer with us.
“We also wanted to create some sort of memorial area within The Mall, where people could reflect on lives lost over the past 18 months – in any circumstances, not just through COVID – and write a note to celebrate the memories of loved ones that live on in our hearts.
“After multiple lockdowns and more than 18 months of being apart, we are proud to have created a space where people can come together in remembrance.”
