There are free Lateral Flow tests (rapid covid tests) being offered for you and your staff this week, Monday to Wednesday from 10am to 6.00pm at King George’s Hall.
All staff will be able to turn up (no appointment needed) and get a Covid-19 test as part of efforts to get the virus under control in the borough.
Known as a Lateral Flow Test, the results for these can be given in around 30 minutes, as they don’t need to go to a laboratory for testing. People will be sent a text with the results so there’s no waiting around.
Up to a third of people may display no symptoms, but are still infectious.
The tests are not compulsory, but people are encouraged to get a test as they can help to break the chains of transmission in areas like Blackburn with Darwen and help to bring down infection rates – and restore some normality to our Borough.
This new testing programme is being co-ordinated by the Lancashire Resilience Forum, and involves logistics support from the army. It is part of the government’s national drive to continue to increase testing.
There is also an opportunity for you to continue testing your own employees once this Army-led testing ends. Any employers who agree to this will receive free supplies of the Lateral Flow Tests for their workforce and support with how to administer the tests (they are simple to use).
