Join the community parade

Organisations across Blackburn with Darwen are being invited to bring festive cheer to a community parade as part of Blackburn’s Big Christmas celebrations this year.

Scout groups, bands, choirs schools, families, churches and other organisations are invited to take part in the Community Parade which will follow the traditional Lantern Parade on a route from Ainsworth Street to Blackburn Cathedral where there will be a spectacular firework display, fire performers and illuminated street theatre displays.  The Blackburn Community Carol Service in Blackburn Cathedral will follow the event at 6:15pm.

The procession, on Saturday 17th December, starts at 4:30pm.

Harriet Roberts, who is organising Blackburn’s Big Christmas events on behalf of Blackburn Business Improvement District (BID) in partnership with Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council explained, ‘This is a really exciting community event and the BID would like to see as many local businesses and groups joining together to celebrate and enjoy the Christmas festivities.’

The procession will be bright & colourful and groups are encouraged to bring banners, flags and musical instruments and the BID are encouraging nativity costumes, Christmas characters, uniforms, flags and banners.

Groups wanting to take part should email big@blackburnchristmas.com for further details.
