Good News for Blackburn!

Coronation Street stars, Wendi Peters and Peter Gunn have been sharing their passion for Blackburn in a new Visitor Guide published this month by the Blackburn Business Improvement District (BID) and distributed to selected postcodes across Lancashire.

The 64 page magazine includes details of the town centre events scheduled for Christmas and a competition to win £500 shopping vouchers with The Mall.

The magazine also features a behind-the-scenes look at the preparations for the King George’s Hall Christmas spectacular Beauty and the Beast.

Feature writer, Diane Cooke and photographer, Paul Adams who previously worked for the Lancashire Telegraph have contributed to the publication which also includes features on Nigel Womack, the enigmatic hairdresser on Town Hall Street and Paul Nuttall of Reidys. ‘At Home with the Dean’ introduces the Very Reverend Peter Howell-Jones at Blackburn Cathedral and there’s an interview with Alastair Murdoch of the Cotton Exchange who talks about rescuing and restoring the old Apollo cinema on King William Street.

Free copies are now being distributed to around 15,000 homes and copies are also available to pick up from town centre locations including Blackburn Visitor Centre in Blackburn Market.

Blackburn BID Manager Harriet Roberts said, ‘We are absolutely thrilled with the magazine and very grateful to everyone who has supported us with advertising and content.’

The magazine was printed by Lancashire printers Peter Scott Printers and has been funded in full by the businesses in Blackburn Town Centre who are part of Blackburn Business Improvement District.
