The Mall Blackburn has sown the seeds of a sensational summer of FREE forest fun!
Victoria Court in the shopping centre will be transformed into a magical woodland scene, named Willowy Woods, which will be the setting for three weeks of exciting countryside inspired activities.
The fun starts on Monday 14th August until Saturday 2nd September and The Mall has called on nature and bush craft experts and performers from across the UK to introduce little shoppers to the wonder of the outdoors.
Each day will be different, with plenty of activities to keep children of all ages entertained.
Renowned artist, Richard Shilling will kick things off by introducing visitors to the magic of land art for kids, creating unique masterpieces with objects sourced from the local countryside.
Crafts using foraged materials including sticks, leaves, logs, stones, fruits and much more will be created with the help of one of Lancashire’s outdoor learning providers, Marsden Park Forest School and the Lancashire Wildlife Trust.
Theatrical, educational performances by the elusive Wild Man of the Woods, will teach children about a whole host of wildlife subjects with songs guaranteed to even get adults singing along!
Another applauded woodland character, the ukulele playing Mr Beetle, will also make special appearances to educate little ones all about the mini beasts that can be found everywhere.
Children will also get the chance to meet a peregrine falcon and talk to bird experts about feathery friends that can be found in the UK.
Two fairies, who are visiting from local woodlands, will also be telling magical tales, giving very special fairy lessons and hosting wish making ceremonies!
Finally, there will be wildlife inspired activity sheets to complete for the chance to win prizes as well as Woodland Trust fact sheets that children can use to take away and nurture their new found love of nature!
