Details of support available for close contact services

In readiness for preparing to reopen non-essential retail, outdoor hospitality, leisure (for individual exercise) and close contact services in the next step of the Roadmap out of lockdown, industry bodies are offering support webinars, forums, guidance and online training. 

Many are available to members and non-members, so it’s worth checking to see if there is any support available to you. 

Here’s some of the ones we’ve found which might be helpful:

NHBF supporting the Hair, Beauty & Barbering Industries

British Beauty Council – Clubhouse 

  • Clubhouse is a new social media app, which allows members to communicate through audio-chat.  Currently, the app is still in Beta testing, so to be able to join the app, you need to be invited by an existing member.  British Beauty Council CEO Millie Kendall MBE is hosting weekly sessions, which will cover an array of topics from Sustainability and Equality, to the future of beauty in the UK.

UK Active – Not-for-profit industry association, promoting the interests of commercial fitness gyms and community leisure centres

  • Operational Guidance including COVID-19 – A framework for the re-opening of gym, leisure centre and wider fitness industry during social distancing’ & COVID-19 – A framework for the safe delivery of children’s activity provision during social distancing
  • The Fit Together Campaign has been developed in line with the ukactive re-opening framework for operating a fitness or leisure facility following closure as a result of Covid-19.  Fit Together will raise awareness among the public that people can return to their facilities and be active in a safe environment. This message will be supported by fitness and leisure operators adopting the ukactive framework for reopening, providing the best practice required to give both staff and customers total confidence when visiting or working in a facility.  Ahead of the Government announcement for the re-opening of the sector, you can get a head start with our suite of digital and physical assets.

CIMSPA – The Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport & Physical Activity

  • ReActivate  – a new, free, online training platform, designed to equip anyone working or volunteering in the sport, fitness, leisure and physical activity sector in England with the knowledge and skills they need to confidently return to work or restart their coaching activity.
  • ReActivate provides a range of modules to help you understand the implications of covid-19 on activity delivery, customer service and health and safety. Modules include:
