The results are in and the numbers have been counted and verified to reveal the beauty secrets of the women of Blackburn.
As part of The Mall Blackburn’s Make Every Day Beautiful event more than 350 local women were questioned about their fashion and beauty habits*.
The survey revealed that women in the town spend more time getting ready for a night out with the girls than they do for a date with 57 per cent spending over an hour preparing to meet up with their mates and 44 per cent spending the same amount of time dolling up for their partner.
When it comes to buying habits the majority of women, 26 per cent, had 11 to 15 products in their make-up bag, whilst almost a third, 30 per cent, of 16-20 year olds owned more than 26 items of make-up!
At the same time, 49 per cent of this group also admitted to only using between five and ten products a day, meaning up to 20 items are languishing unloved and unused in make-up bags across the town!
Over a third of women, 36 per cent confessed to buying new make-up once a month, with 34 per cent spending between £11 and £20 on one purchase, meaning bills totalling nearly £200 per year.
The women were also questioned about their fashion habits, with the vast majority, 35 per cent, stating they always wore heels for a night on the town, with just three per cent owning up to spending more than £300 per pair!
Just over 30 per cent of those surveyed said they can wear said heels for more than five hours, with just 11 per cent taking back up flats in case of a sore feet emergency.
Loraine Jones, General Manager at The Mall Blackburn, said: “We have really enjoyed celebrating all things fashion and beauty here at The Mall and the survey results certainly make for an interesting read!
“We spoke to a broad cross section of our female shoppers, who were more than happy to tell all when it came to their habits.
“I would like to thank everyone that took part in this survey and the workshops and demonstrations that took place throughout the event.”
