We are continuing to provide daily security patrols in the town centre to help make Blackburn safer and more secure (as are Blackburn with Darwen Council). Our security officers are working really hard to help businesses but please be aware that they cannot be in more than one place at once, and we are seeing an increase in retail crime in the town centre. It’s also important to remember that they are not a substitute for your own security resources or procedures, nor are they expected to deal with issues which should be reported to the police online, via 101 or 999. Please always call 999 if the crime is being committed now, the offender is nearby, or if you or other people are injured or in danger.

Change to Opening times of the Covid testing site in The Mall
The Council are changing the opening times of the Covid Testing Site in the Mall to 08:00 – 16:00 Monday to Friday from 20 September, to enable staff working in the Mall and the town Centre to get tested before they go to work.

New Community Help Hub Opens
A new community help hub in Blackburn town centre was formally opened today (Wednesday, July 28th) as Blackburn with Darwen Council continues its response to the coronavirus pandemic. The ribbon was cut on the hub – based in the Mall opposite Marks & Spencer – this afternoon and it is now available to offer free, regular, rapid coronavirus testing as well as a range of support to local residents to move forward with their lives in a variety of ways.
