From today, businesses – ranging from coffee shops and restaurants, to hairdressers and gyms – and can access loans varying in size from £25,000, up to a maximum of £10 million. Invoice and asset finance is available from £1,000.

A big spring clean is underway in Blackburn Town Centre
King William Street is being given a spring clean ahead of the reopening of Blackburn town centre.
The intricate cobbles, paving and street furniture in one of the main shopping areas is being jet washed as part of the ‘cleaner greener’ priority for Blackburn BID. The street is being cleaned from outside Blackburn Town Hall to the junction with Lord St West and entrance to The Mall shopping centre.

The Chancellor Rishi Sunak has announced in the House of Commons that there will be an extension of the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (Furlough) to March and Self Employment Income Support will be increased.

Local authority discretionary grants update
Further to yesterday’s update on the criteria for eligibility to apply for the local authority discretionary grants, it appears that the criteria stating that businesses which pay rates are ineligible has now been removed, and it is understood Blackburn with Darwen Council has updated their application criteria in line with it.
