Management and staff at The Mall Blackburn are all set to support National Volunteers’ Week from the 1st to the 7th June by donating their time to local charitable organisations.

First up, General Manager Loraine Jones will be joined by Marketing Assistant Vickie Mawdsley, Soft Services Manager Ronnie O’Keeffe and Deputy Soft Services Manager Gareth Stead-Clark on a litter picking mission around Blackburn town centre.

Ask Me Point Assistant, Carley McKenna will also spend time helping the team at Blackburn Youth Zone while Operations Manager Andy Smith will be lending a hand at the North West Air Ambulance shop in Blackburn.

It certainly won’t be horseplay for Phil Bickerstaff, who is Technical Manager and Lisa Clough who is Administrator as they roll up their sleeves and muck in at the Only Foals and Horses Sanctuary in Oswaldtwistle on Tuesday.

The East Lancashire Hospice is the beneficiary on Thursday as Irene Wilkins, who is The Mall’s Receptionist, Ask Me Point Supervisor Jason Cothliff and Marketing Manager, Laura Diffey all volunteer their time.

Last, but certainly not least, Ask Me Point Assistants Danielle Cannon and Rachael Kershaw will be helping with Blackburn with Darwen Young Carers.

Volunteers’ Week is a chance to say thank you for the fantastic contribution millions of volunteers make across the UK. It takes place 1-7 June every year and is an opportunity to celebrate volunteering in all its diversity.

Loraine Jones said: “We are delighted to be taking part in Volunteers’ Week and it is great to see so many staff getting involved.

“Our Charity of the Year for 2018 is Theo’s Warriors, which supports children and their families through their cancer diagnosis and beyond, and we have lots of exciting activities planned.

“Volunteers Week enables us to work with other fantastic causes that deserve help and recognition, and I know I speak on behalf of everyone when I say we can’t wait to get started!

“With so many charities needing support I would urge anyone that can to get involved to do so, it is a great way of getting out and about and meeting new people while giving something back to the local community.”
